June 03, 2006, New Zealand - "Government to re-assess daylight saving", NATIONAL NEWS STORY
Daylight saving starts on October 1 and ends on March 18 next year and an Internal Affairs spokesman told The New Zealand Herald many people had this year argued for it to be lengthened.
He said the Government would need to see "considerable" public support for a change if it were to happen.
The study will look at things such as possible effects on people's lives, the economy and energy consumption.
United Future leader Peter Dunne was backing a change and said the result would be a likely reduction in energy usage, along with a "positive psychological effect."
